Aneet Padda (born October 14, 2002) is an Indian actress, model, and singer known for her work in Hindi cinema and web series. She made her acting debut in the 2022 film Salaam Venky and gained recognition for her role as Roohi Ahuja in the Amazon Prime Video series Big Girls Don't Cry (2024). Padda has also starred as the female lead in the Yash Raj Films romantic drama Saiyaara (2025), opposite Ahaan Panday.[1][2]

Early Life and Education

Aneet Padda was born on October 14, 2002, in Amritsar, Punjab, India, to a Sikh Jatt family. Her parents, Nitya and Karan Padda, work as trailer editors in the Bollywood industry. She grew up in Punjab, where she developed an interest in performing arts, including singing, dancing, and playing the guitar. Padda completed her schooling at Spring Dale Senior School in Amritsar and later moved to Delhi to pursue higher education. She graduated with a degree in Sociology from Jesus and Mary College, University of Delhi.[3][4]

Career

Early Work and Commercials (2020–2022)

Aneet Padda began her career as a model, appearing in television commercials for brands such as Nescafé, Paytm, Cadbury Dairy Milk, and Maggi. Her persistence in contacting casting agents led to her first significant role in a Paytm advertisement. These early projects helped her gain visibility in the entertainment industry.

Film and Web Series Debut (2022–2024)

In 2022, at the age of 20, Aneet made her acting debut in the Hindi film Salaam Venky, directed by Revathi. She played the role of Nandini, appearing alongside Kajol, Vishal Jethwa, and Rahul Bose in the slice-of-life drama. Though her role was small, it marked her entry into Bollywood.[5]

In 2024, Aneet gained critical recognition for her portrayal of Roohi Ahuja in the Amazon Prime Video series Big Girls Don't Cry, a coming-of-age drama set in an all-girls boarding school. The series, created by Nitya Mehra, featured a cast including Pooja Bhatt, Raima Sen, and Zoya Hussain. Aneet also contributed as a singer, lending her voice to songs in the series' soundtrack, showcasing her musical talents.[6]

Breakthrough with Saiyaara (2025)

Aneet Padda first lead role came in the Yash Raj Films romantic drama Saiyaara (2025), directed by Mohit Suri. She starred opposite Ahaan Panday, marking the debut of both actors as leads. The film, released on July 18, 2025, was presented by Aditya Chopra and produced by Akshaye Widhani. Described as an intense love story, Saiyaara garnered significant attention for its emotional depth, music, and the chemistry between Aneet Padda and Ahaan Panday. The film's song "Dhun," sung by Arijit Singh, became a trending hit. Aneet performance was praised by critics and industry figures, including Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur, who compared the film's impact to that of Aashiqui 2. Reports indicate that Padda secured the role after a standout audition among hundreds of candidates, highlighting her talent and determination.[7][8]

Aneet Padda has also signed a three-film deal with Yash Raj Films, with Saiyaara being the first project. She is set to appear in an upcoming web series about the life of Asaram, where she will portray one of his victims.[9]
