Satish Ray (Hindi: सतीश राय ;born July 23, 1994) [1]is an Indian actor, writer, comedian, and YouTube content creator known for his comedic characters, including Imaandar Sharma, Babban Bhola, and Pappu Positive. He gained prominence through his work with The Viral Fever (TVF) and his YouTube channel, where he creates satirical videos and humorous sketches.[2][3]

Early Life and Education

Satish Ray was born on July 23, 1994, in Chapra, Bihar, India, to Dileep Ray and Godawali Ray. He has a brother named Anoop Rai. Ray completed his schooling at Shiv Nandan Baldev High School in Chapra, where he studied under challenging conditions, including walking 5–6 km to school and studying under a lantern until 10th grade. He claims to have been a state topper in his 10th-grade examinations. Ray later pursued a B.Tech degree from the YMCA Institute of Engineering in Faridabad. During his school years, he developed an interest in writing, inspired by his father’s engagement with Hindi literature, including works like Godan by Munshi Premchand.[4][5]

Career

Early Career and YouTube

Satish Ray began his career in 2014 by launching a YouTube channel called "Back Bencho," where he shared humorous videos with friends. The channel did not gain significant traction. In 2015, he wrote a story titled "Self-Respect," published in a Bhojpuri tabloid. After moving to Mumbai, Ray initially worked at Loco, a gaming app, writing app-related questions, but found the job environment toxic. During this period, he applied for a writer’s position at The Viral Fever (TVF) and was selected after an interview.[6]

In 2019, Ray launched his YouTube channel under his own name, "Satish Ray," where he began portraying the character Imaandar Sharma in the series TVF Imaandar Interview.[7] The character, inspired by Ray’s observations of performative patriotism and societal pretense, became widely popular. He also created other characters, such as Babban Bhola and Pappu Positive, for his YouTube sketches. His channel has amassed over 616,000 followers on Instagram and a significant fanbase on YouTube.[8]

Acting and Writing

Ray is recognized for his roles in TVF productions, including Siddarth in Panchayat Season 2 (2020), a critically acclaimed comedy-drama series on Amazon Prime Video. He has also written scripts for TVF, notably for the series Celebrities in College: Kangana. His work extends to other TVF projects like Gutar Gu and Baap Beta Aur Office. Ray’s comedic style blends satire with relatable humor, resonating with a wide audience.[9][10][11]

Social Media Presence

Beyond YouTube, Satish Ray maintains an active presence on social media platforms like Instagram, where he shares comedic content, product reviews, and lifestyle posts. His engaging content has earned him a substantial following, with fans appreciating his creative and informative videos.[12][13]
