Rahul Varun (born Rahul Mishra, 5 August 1993) is an Indian entrepreneur, actor, and Bollywood journalist. He is the founder and CEO of The Filmy Charcha, a Mumbai-based entertainment news agency, and RV Rising Entertainment, a public relations and digital marketing firm. Varun is known for his contributions to entertainment journalism and has received awards including the Rashtriya Ratna Samman and the Dadasaheb Phalke Indian Television Award.[1][2]
Early life
Rahul Varun was born in Madhubani, Bihar, to Shyamanand Mishra, a business owner, and Sunita Devi, a homemaker. He completed a Diploma in Mass Communication and Journalism at Ram Krishna College, Madhubani, and later earned a Commerce degree. Facing financial challenges, Varun moved to Mumbai to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.[3]
Career
Acting
Varun debuted as an actor in the 2020 Bollywood film Pagleaazam. Early in his career, he worked as an assistant in television production, assisting with casting for TV shows, films, and advertisements.
The Filmy Charcha
In 2019, Varun founded The Filmy Charcha, a media platform covering Bollywood news, film reviews, and celebrity interviews. Its YouTube channel, launched on 4 November 2017, gained popularity with content like a live video featuring Firoz Khan, known for playing Arjun in Mahabharat, which received over 500,000 views.[4] In August 2024, the company launched an e-magazine, with its first edition featuring actor Mukesh Khanna.[5]
RV Rising Entertainment and Attention India
In 2017, Varun established RV Rising Entertainment, a PR and digital marketing agency managing celebrity promotions and talent services.[6] He also co-founded Attention India, a bilingual news portal covering entertainment, politics, and sports.
Notable work
Varun has interviewed prominent Bollywood figures, including Akshay Kumar and Akhilendra Mishra. His interview with Mishra addressed actor royalties in Indian cinema, raising awareness about industry practices.[7]
