Prajakta Koli ((1993-06-27)June 27, 1993), known online as MostlySane, is an Indian YouTuber, actress and author, and one of India's most prominent female digital creators.^[1]

In July 2025 she became the first — and so far only — Indian creator named to the inaugural TIME100 Creators list, honouring the world's most influential digital voices.^[2]

From comedy sketches she has grown into an actress (Netflix's Mismatched, Dharma Productions' Jugjugg Jeeyo), a novelist and a global advocate on climate action and education.^[3]

Early life and education

Koli was born on 27 June 1993 in Thane, Maharashtra, and grew up in Mumbai dreaming of becoming a radio jockey.^[4]

She studied at Vasant Vihar High School in Thane and earned a Bachelor's degree in Mass Media from V.G. Vaze College of Arts, Science and Commerce in Mulund, Mumbai University.^[5]

After college she interned at Fever 104 FM in Mumbai, where she eventually got her own late-night show, "Call Centre".

The show flopped — Koli later admitted simply that "radio felt horrible" — but at the station she met creator Sudeep Lahiri, who suggested she try YouTube, then still a novelty in India.^[6]

Career

MostlySane

Koli launched her YouTube channel MostlySane in February 2015 with a simple brief: funny, honest sketches about everyday Indian life.^[7]

Early hits like "10 Hilarious Words Delhi People Use" crossed a million views.

She built loyalty through themed programming — "Real Talk Tuesday" interviews, Thursday comedy sketches and "Sawaal Saturday" Q&As — delivered in an unfiltered, body-positive voice that stood out in a male-dominated comedy scene.^[8]

Her biggest lesson from those early years, she has said, was stubbornly simple: show up every day, no matter how underprepared she felt.^[9]

The channel has grown past 7 million subscribers, with another 8 million followers on Instagram.^[10]

High-profile interviews

Her interview series drew remarkable guests. In April 2019 then-YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki chose Koli's "Real Talk Tuesday" for her first-ever conversation with an Indian YouTuber.^[11]

The series has since featured Sadhguru, Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston.^[12]

In 2020 she fronted the YouTube Originals show Pretty Fit, interviewing women celebrities about fitness and life.^[13]

Acting

Koli's acting debut came with the 2020 short film Khayali Pulao.^[14]

Her breakout was Netflix's coming-of-age series Mismatched, where she played the ambitious, gaming-obsessed coder Dimple Ahuja opposite Rohit Saraf.

The show ran for multiple seasons and made her a familiar face well beyond YouTube.^[15]

In September 2026 Koli and Saraf wrapped filming on the fourth and final season, with Koli calling Dimple "such a huge part of my journey" and admitting that saying goodbye to the character was breaking her heart.^[16]

In 2022 she made her Bollywood debut in Dharma Productions' Jugjugg Jeeyo alongside Anil Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Varun Dhawan and Kiara Advani.^[17]

She later appeared in the mystery film Neeyat with Vidya Balan.^[18]

She has also headlined a Zee Theatre teleplay and appeared in the Prime Video horror series Andhera.^[19]

Writing and global advocacy

In 2025 Koli released her debut novel, Too Good To Be True, adding author to a résumé that already spanned creator, actor and host.^[20]

Parallel to entertainment, she has used her platform for social causes, partnering with the United Nations, the Gates Foundation, the World Economic Forum, the International Olympic Committee and the COP climate summits.^[21]

She appeared in YouTube's Creators for Change series alongside Michelle Obama, an episode that won a Daytime Emmy Award.^[22]

She has been named to Forbes India's 30 Under 30 and GQ India's Most Influential Young Indians 2025 lists.^[23]

TIME100 Creators

Accepting the TIME100 Creators honour, Koli said being recognised as the first Indian creator on the list was "both humbling and incredibly meaningful".^[24]

She called it a reminder of "the power of authentic storytelling and the responsibility that comes with having a platform".^[25]
