Khan Sir (born Faisal Khan) is an Indian educator and YouTuber whose Hindi-language coaching videos have made him one of the most influential teachers in the country. Early life and education

Faisal Khan was born in Bhatpar Rani in Deoria district, Uttar Pradesh, into a middle-class family. His early teaching days were brutally humble — by his own account, he once earned as little as ₹40 a day taking classes. Seeking a bigger stage for his mission of affordable education, he migrated to Patna, Bihar, where he set up the Khan GS Research Centre. The centre later grew into Khan Global Studies, with physical campuses in Patna and Delhi.

Khan began uploading educational videos to YouTube around 2019, teaching subjects like general studies, science and current affairs for UPSC, SSC, railway and Bihar Police aspirants. His formula — difficult concepts broken into everyday Hindi, desi humour, and genuine empathy for students who could never afford Kota's fees — exploded in popularity, especially among rural and small-town aspirants. The channel's subscriber base swelled to roughly 2.6 crore, with some trackers estimating as high as 2.7 crore.

What sets him apart is style: rapid-fire lectures packed with jokes, memes and Bhojpuri-flavoured analogies that make subjects like geography and science feel like entertainment. Students routinely describe him as a teacher who "makes the hardest topics feel easy", and his appeal cuts across classrooms — schoolchildren, aspirants and even older learners follow his channel. His rise coincided with a shift in Indian edtech, proving that a single teacher with a camera could reach more students than many coaching giants.

The ₹107 crore offer he refused

One of the most retold episodes of his story came on a talk show, where Khan revealed that a corporate entity had once offered him a deal worth around ₹107 crore — and he turned it down. His reasoning, as he put it, was that accepting the money would mean abandoning the very students who reminded him of his younger self — those who cannot afford expensive coaching or fear travelling without a proper ticket. He later noted the company that made the offer had since shut down, reinforcing his belief that "wealth is temporary".

Beyond YouTube, Khan Sir operates offline coaching centres in Patna and Delhi under the Khan Global Studies banner, with annual course fees reportedly ranging from ₹20,000 to ₹1 lakh — still a fraction of what premium institutes charge. Industry estimates suggest his YouTube channel alone generates between ₹10 lakh and ₹20 lakh a month through advertisements, brand partnerships and viewer contributions, and his personal net worth is estimated between ₹5 crore and ₹20 crore. The institute has celebrated thousands of student selections in exams like the Bihar Police recruitment — a result his team publicly trumpets as proof that affordable coaching can beat expensive ones.

Controversy

On the night of 2 June 2026, a group of around 15 to 20 people allegedly vandalised the Khan Global Studies institute in Patna's Musallahpur Haat area, pelting stones, damaging signage and injuring a security guard. Khan Sir's team claimed the attack was orchestrated by a rival coaching centre jealous of KGS's success and its celebration of thousands of student selections in the Bihar Police recruitment examination. The case took a turn when a video surfaced allegedly showing two KGS security guards firing weapons in the air; the guards were arrested, and based on the footage and recovered weapons, Patna Police named Faisal Khan and two others in an FIR under abetment and Arms Act provisions. Khan Sir denied involvement. The Patna Principal District and Sessions Court granted him interim protection from coercive action and later confirmed anticipatory bail, also granting bail to three staff members and the two guards, after finding no grounds for custodial interrogation.
