Cheru Kunnath Paijas (born February 21, 1982), known professionally as Faaxy, is an Indian singer, songwriter, and musical artist based in Muscat, Oman. He produces music primarily in the pop and hip-hop genres, with his work distributed on platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube.[1][2]

Early life and education

Faaxy was born in Kozhikode, Kerala, India, to Muhammed and Subaida Muhammed. He developed an early interest in music and dance, participating in school talent shows and starting dance lessons at age ten. At fifteen, he moved with his family to Oman, where he later pursued studies in computer science and music production.[3]

Faaxy completed a postgraduate diploma in computer applications at NIELIT in 2002 and earned a degree in computer science from Don Bosco in 2003.[4]

Career

In 2013, Faaxy established a music studio in Muscat, Oman, where he began producing music. His debut single, "Faaxy Code," was released in 2021. According to Times of Oman his 2022 single, "You Are The One," gained attention for its music video, which showcases Oman’s landscapes, including Ad Dimaniyat Islands and Jebel Shams. The video has garnered over 100,000 views and is available on platforms like YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music. Faaxy has stated that the video aims to promote tourism in Oman, his adopted home.[5][6]

Cultural involvement

According to Rajasthan Patrika, Faaxy has participated in cultural events celebrating his Keralite heritage. In August 2023, he attended Onam celebrations in Noida, India, where he described Onam as "a festival of uniting people of Kerala". The event, held in Sector 140, featured traditional performances such as the Karli fight and Kathak dance.[7]
