Jonathan Gaming (born Jonathan Jude Amaral; September 21, 2002) is an Indian esports athlete and YouTuber widely regarded as one of the finest Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) players in the world.[1] Known for his aggressive assaulter gameplay and ice-cold composure in clutch situations, he has starred for top Indian organisations including Entity Gaming and GodLike Esports, collecting a shelf of MVP awards at major tournaments.[2] His YouTube channel, where he streams gameplay and posts vlogs, has over 8 million subscribers as of September 2026.
Early life and education
Jonathan Jude Amaral was born on 21 September 2002 in Verna, Goa.[3] He did not set out to become a professional gamer. In the beginning he played PUBG Mobile purely for fun, with friends and cousins gathering at his house for team deathmatch games.[4] Gradually he fell in love with the game, dug deeper into its mechanics, and discovered the world of esports. As he later recalled, it was the trophies and the massive prize pools that truly drew him in — he told himself he had to make something of himself in the game.[5]
He began playing friendly matches with the Skull Clan and soon set his sights on competitive play. His first brush with a big stage ended in heartbreak: his squad attempted the PUBG Mobile Club Open (PMCO) but failed to qualify, missing the cut by just two points.[6] Unwilling to give up, he linked up with Ghatak, whom he had known since his rank-pushing days, determined to prove wrong those who dismissed him as merely a classic-match player.[7]
Career
Breakthrough with Entity Gaming
Jonathan's professional breakthrough came with Entity Gaming. In his first-ever international esports tournament, the Vodafone 5G ESL Mobile Open, the squad finished fourth — a result that left his mother overjoyed and both his parents urging him to push further.[8] He has often said his ultimate dream is to become a world champion.[9] He went on to represent TSM Entity as Indian PUBG Mobile matured into a serious competitive circuit, learning to play against the world's best while still a teenager.
GodLike Esports and the BGMI era
When Krafton launched Battlegrounds Mobile India, Jonathan embraced the new title immediately, describing how its action, jumps and characters enhanced the experience and praising the developer's efforts to rebuild in the Indian market.[10] He became the talisman of GodLike Esports' BGMI roster, earning a reputation as India's most feared assaulter.[11] Tournament after tournament, his name appeared on MVP shortlists, and he won the individual honour on multiple occasions — though he has always insisted the trophy matters more than the MVP tag.[12]
His playing style — lightning-fast reflexes, fearless close-range entries and an uncanny ability to turn a losing fight — made him appointment viewing. Peers and analysts routinely place him among the finest assaulters India has produced, and he himself has named his favourite Indian assaulters, showing the respect of a senior pro who studies the scene around him.[13] The long-running rivalry between his GodLike side and MortaL's teams became one of Indian esports' great storylines, drawing enormous viewership to every clash.[14]
The nationwide BGMI ban in 2022 brought competitive play to a halt for months. Jonathan admitted he was missing the game badly, especially its LAN tournaments, telling fans during a livestream that he missed competing on stage "a lot".[15] Even during the downtime he kept grinding, refusing to believe unban rumours until official confirmation arrived.[16]
Recent years
In 2023, Jonathan briefly went quiet on stream and later explained he had lost his passport in Dubai and was stuck waiting on the Indian Embassy, telling fans it was "just a matter of few more days" before he returned to India and resumed streaming.[17] In 2024 he lifted the BGMI Galaxy Z Fold Edition trophy, getting the better of rival captains including MortaL after losing the previous edition to him. Speaking afterwards, he said the squad had arrived with a single plan — to win — and executed it as a team.[18] He continues to compete at the top of Indian BGMI while running one of the country's biggest gaming YouTube channels, regularly crossing 8 million subscribers.
