Flying Beast (born Gaurav Taneja; (1986-07-09)July 9, 1986) is an Indian YouTuber, former commercial pilot and entrepreneur best known for his family vlogs. His main channel has over 9.2 million subscribers as of September 2026, making him one of India's most-followed vloggers. Beyond YouTube, he runs the nutrition and wellness brand BeastLife and the dairy business Rosier Foods.

Early life and education

Gaurav Taneja was born in 1986 in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. He earned a degree in civil engineering from IIT Kharagpur before training as a commercial pilot. He went on to fly for IndiGo and AirAsia India for nearly a decade. His aviation career ended after he turned whistleblower at AirAsia, flagging safety concerns — a stand that cost him his cockpit but earned him wide public respect.

Career

From fitness to family vlogs

Taneja started his first YouTube channel, FitMuscle TV, in 2016, sharing fitness content while still flying full-time. In December 2017 he launched Flying Beast, a family vlogging channel documenting everyday life with his wife Ritu Rathee — herself a commercial pilot and a successful creator with around 2 million Instagram followers — and their two daughters. The channel's warm, unfiltered slice-of-life videos struck a chord, and after leaving aviation he became a full-time creator. He also runs the gaming channel Rasbhari Ke Papa, taking his total presence to three popular YouTube channels.

Taneja married fellow pilot Ritu Rathee in 2016. The couple has spoken candidly about how internet fame changed their lives. Ritu quit social media at the peak of her influencer career to focus on their daughters — a decision her husband said first shocked him, then grounded him — and Taneja later described her as the true "star" of the Flying Beast journey. He has said his definition of success changed with fatherhood: time with family now matters more than subscriber counts.

Businesses

Taneja channelled his fitness background into BeastLife, a nutrition brand, and co-founded Rosier Foods, a dairy and wellness D2C business. His ventures, brand deals and YouTube earnings have built him an estimated net worth of between ₹35 crore and ₹41 crore, funding a lavish home and a 10-acre farmhouse in Gurugram. He has also appeared in music videos and brand campaigns, becoming one of the few Indian creators to build a genuine multi-business empire off vlogging.

Stepping back

In September 2026, after a two-month hiatus, Taneja announced he was deliberately pulling back from daily vlogging, citing burnout and what he called the "content trap" — the treadmill of engagement metrics, compulsive analytics-checking and the pressure to keep a production team paid. He said future uploads would be sporadic and reserved for significant milestones while he focuses on his businesses, and revealed he had disabled likes and comments on select posts and uninstalled social apps from his phone. The decision echoed his wife Ritu's own choice a year earlier to quit social media at the peak of her influencer career to spend time with their children — a move Taneja said first shocked him, then grounded him.

IndiGo offer

During IndiGo's operational meltdown in late 2025, Taneja publicly offered to fly the airline's aircraft without pay — on the condition that operations follow the updated Flight Duty Time Limitation norms for passenger safety. The offer, made directly to the airline on X, reignited conversation about pilot rest and safety in Indian aviation.

Controversy

In September 2026, Taneja faced intense backlash after his former farm employee Pushpendra Choudhary alleged that the family's pet dog Mau — a labrador once frequently seen in his videos — had died of neglect at Rosier Farm after being moved there from their home. Choudhary alleged Mau was denied proper food, medical care and timely veterinary attention after being injured by other dogs at the farm, and accused Taneja of treating the dog as content. Taneja issued a clarification stating he had taken good care of the dog, but has otherwise not commented publicly on the specific allegations.
