Amit Sharma, known online as Desi Gamers and affectionately to fans as Amitbhai, is an Indian gaming YouTuber from Siliguri, West Bengal, and one of the biggest Free Fire creators in the country.[1]
He is among India's biggest Free Fire creators, crossing ten million subscribers within two to three years of starting his channel.[2]
Early life and education
His parents wanted him to have a stable job, and he did not tell them about his YouTube channel until it had reached 100,000 to 200,000 subscribers; they have been supportive since.[3]
His village seniors used to call him "Amitbhai", a nickname that later became his online identity and how millions of viewers address him.[4]
He describes himself as an ordinary student who scored around 65% in class 10 and 75% in class 12, and after college he held a part-time job; in one interview he recalled being denied a Durga Pooja bonus because he was part-time staff, a slight that stayed with him as he built his own path.[5]
Career
Starting with Free Fire
Sharma started his YouTube channel after completing college, at first copying other creators' content before switching to original Free Fire videos, and his Hindi commentary and lively personality struck a chord with mobile gamers across India.[6]
He has repeatedly credited the game for his career: "Free Fire made me what I'm today," he said when the game was banned in India, a comment that drew an emotional response from his community.[7]
The channel is managed by OP Gaming (OpraahFx), and Sharma collaborates regularly with fellow gaming creators such as Ajjubhai (Total Gaming) and The Rawknee Games.[8]
Playing style and community
Sharma's channel runs on consistency: near-daily Free Fire gameplay, custom-room matches with subscribers, and Hindi commentary that explains tactics as he plays.[9]
His in-game profile has been pored over by fans and press alike, with his K/D ratio, booyah percentage and ranked stats regularly cited as evidence of his skill beyond the entertainment.[10]
Esports and international stages
Sharma's influence extends beyond YouTube into competitive esports. He attended the Free Fire World Series in Brazil, where he met DJ Alok and other global esports figures, calling it a chance to learn from people working at the highest level.[11]
In 2024 he represented India at the Esports World Cup in Riyadh as part of the Free Fire competition, meeting international creators like Brazil's Nobru and calling it one of the most memorable experiences of his career.[12]
The appearance was covered as a landmark moment: an Indian gaming creator carrying the country's flag at a global esports event in Saudi Arabia.[13]
