He had briefly left his table at a Burger King outlet to collect his order when a man picked up the phone and fled on a scooter, an act caught on the restaurant's security camera.<ref>https://indianexpress.com/article/trending/trending-in-india/indian-youtuber-anshu-bisht-phone-stolen-in-san-francisco-how-cops-recovered-it-in-minutes-10877016/</ref>

Rather than confront the suspect himself, Bisht tracked the phone with another device, called 911 and shared the live location; officers from the Colma Police Department arrived within minutes, detained the suspect and recovered the device.<ref>https://newsable.asianetnews.com/amp/world/indian-youtuber-gamer-anshu-bisht-phone-stolen-in-san-francisco-police-recover-it-within-minutes-of-911-call-articleshow-a7gr2sp</ref>
